Bulldogs Announce 2010 Summer Schedule
The Kernersville Bulldogs
recently announced their 2010 campaign. The Bulldogs season
opener will be on Thursday May 27 on the road against
the Martinsville Mustangs of the Coastal Plains League. The
2010 slate consists of games with all CVCL opponents as Kernersville
attempts to defend its 2009 CVCL championship. Nonconference
contests with the Coastal Plains' Thomasville Hi-Toms, Asheboro Copperheads,
Martinsville Mustangs, and Gastonia Grizzlies, along with home
and home contests with the Proehlific Power should provide Kernersville
with good preparation for the year-ending CVCL Championships in Hickory,
NC. In addition, the Bulldogs will travel to Fairchild Park
in Burlington, NC to play the Burlington Royals. The Royals
are the rookie league affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.

Bulldogs Lead Belmont Abbey to NCAA Division II College World Series
Three
former Bulldog players played key roles in Belmont Abbey of Conference
Carolinas upset victory of the Southeast Regional advancing to the
College World Series at the USA Baseball Complex in Cary, North Carolina.
Bulldog outfielder Tyler McKenzie paced the offensive attack while
the arms of Andrew Morton and John Merritt carried the Crusaders.
Morton hurled a nine inning complete game in the winners bracket final,
with a 7-2 win over the #2 seed Francis Marion. John Merritt
pitched seven innings in the championship game against top seeded
USC-Aiken.
Former Bulldog Signs With Frontier League
Former
Bulldog outfielder, Jeremy Jones of North Carolina A&T University,
signed with the Independent League Midwest Sliders. Jones, previously
drafted by the Colorado Rockies, was a top offensive performer for
the Bulldogs and a MEAC all-star. Jones came off rehab surgery
of a broken elbow during his senior season was hoping to catch attention
from Major League teams. He will open play on Wednesday, May 20th.
Also, Jones joins former Bulldog catcher Sean Snell of UNC Greensboro
on the Midwest Sliders club.
Bulldog Matt
McSwain 3-1 In Minors
Matt McSwain, former Bulldog pitcher, currently
at the Lynchburg Hillcats top Class-A team of the Pittsburgh Pirates
organization pushed his record to 3-1 on the season with a 6-inning,
4 hit, no run performance over the Wilmington Blue Rocks. McSwain
currently has a 4.1 ERA in his role as a starter and a 3-1 record
for the Hillcats.
